Antiqued Mirror & Verre Eglomise Samples
Our standard samples measure approximately 150 x 200mm.
They are hand silvered on 4mm float glass with as cut edges and mounted onto 2mm backboards.
Up to two samples are supplied free of charge to Trade clients - using the code 'TRADE' at the checkout. We do require proof of your design, construction or industry related trade status in order to provide free samples.
Further samples or for private clients can be purchased and returned for a refund, if received in perfect condition, within 30 days of receipt.

Decorative Studs for Panelled Mirrors
Inspired by early 20th Century panelled Bistro Mirrors, we supply decorative cast brass studs which can be applied where each panel meets. Available in antiqued brass patina or gilded in gold or silver leaf for any of our bespoke panelled antiqued mirrors.

Taxidermy artist Paul Broomfield creates his magical assemblage boxes lined with original 18th & 19th century antique mirror and Rough Old Glass finishes. Pauls work incorporates vintage and found objects, curios and, more often than not, antique taxidermy which is partially gilded using traditional techniques.

A New Website for Rough Old Glass
We decided it was time for an update for www.rougholdglass.co.uk
After exhibiting at The Surface Design Show it was the perfect opportunity to photograph our complete collection, have a redesign of our website to showcase them and show you a little bit more behind the scenes at our workshop and gilding studio.
We hope the new features make ordering samples for your interior projects more straightforward. The website also allows you to search for finishes by colour or which finishes are suitable to be toughened for splash backs or table tops for example.
You can magnify the sample finish images by hovering your mouse over them or click on them to view a larger picture making it easier to visualise a finish.

Verre Eglomise doors for the Dorchester Hotel
Our Gilding Workshop was commissioned by Decca Furniture to hand paint and gild 136 glass panels which are to be used as mini bar doors in the Dorchester Hotel Suites. Each door with it's floral and willow design was hand painted by our in house artists. Fine gold details were applied behind the translucent glass paint to highlight the petals. They were then reverse gilded in silver leaf in a haphazard fashion and distressed to create a distressed mirror finish.
